The SLP project is coming right up and I couldn't be more excited about it! Our original plan which includes a dormitory and an animal shelter will without a doubt be a great turnout in the Purdue community. However, upon moving into more scripted planning with the date just around the corner, our group quickly realized that it is very important that we are in absolute control of this function.
Upon having class two days ago, I found out that flyers were already posted for our event, which is great! The only problem was that these flyers were not made nor posted by any of my fellow group members or myself. It was done by one of the Residence Assistants at the dorm where the project is to take place. This individual took it upon themselves to create a photo contest within our activity without anyone notifying or checking with us! Obviously, this was a problem.
I will not deny this individual credit for thinking of this idea, but they must understand that the event can and will be ran by my group. If we allow this flyer to continue and be seen, students will get the wrong impression and will be disappointed upon arrival when they find out it was not what they expected. It is very crucial that this is dealt with now, which it is. Whenever you are planning events and you are in charge, you must make sure you all of your soldiers in line and have complete control of the situation.
