After taking the midterm exam in this class, I found that there is a lot of information that is covered in this class that isn't near as important as getting a grip on the bigger picture of theories and definitions.
We were asked to memorize the names and definitions of different theories for the exam. Many other exams are structured to simply match the name with the definition by simply writing a letter down that corresponds to the correct theory. In this case, we had to remember the theories themselves, which made students, in my personal opinion, better understand the concepts of the theories. Anyone can memorize the first sentence to match it with another memorized word. Also, we were asked to give examples of each theory, this was extremely effective because it truly forced students to think about what they wrote down. Not many classes are structured this way anymore. I feel like this is a much better way for students to get an accurate example of real world problems. It enables them to solve problems, which is a great trait to have in today's society.
