Sam's Second Blog: Don't Take it for Granted

Upon being assigned our service learning project in this class, I began worrying what our group could do to actually make a difference and help people in the community. Along with the community, we as a group wanted to include students.

Without initially realizing it, the idea we came up with fulfills all of the criteria yet adds so much enjoyment for everyone. We will be hosting a stress relieving session for students here at the dorms by having a "Pet Day." We wished to include an animal that everyone likes along with an activity that would take students minds off of their everyday school work. It didn't take long for us to agree upon having puppies for the animal of choice.

What I did not realize, because I took it for granted, is just how much we would be doing to help others out by not even going out of our way. For instance, we contacted a local animal shelter to bring the puppies and we will be washing and grooming the animals. Along with that, we will be setting out a donation bucket to the animal shelter. Without even considering it, we will save the shelter the stress of bathing the animals and will also raise money for them by having the donation bucket. All of this will occur with only having the intentions of helping the students relieve some stress.
