The Blog Hogs are a diverse group of students from all disciplines studying at Purdue University. We have come together in a "Small Group Communications" class to learn effective methods to communicate in small, intimate settings.
The road to the Final Four has begun. Everything that college basketball teams have worked for this season is now going to pay off. In order for a team to make a deep playoff run, great communication is going to be key. This could be from coach to team or player to player. A good team will not make the run on just luck. A player and coach must constantly be relaying information to one another. It must be relevant to the game being played and not looking ahead to the next game without winning the current one in progress. Some teams make a mistake by not focusing how important the current game is. When this happens a team will not make it far in the tournament. Even when teams are focused there may be some problems with rhythm between players. Some teams do extra things to get the team to "gel" together properly.
This team is required to work together learning how to play the hand bells. It not only focuses them on working together musically, but then also allows them to work together better on the basketball court. The player's interviews on ESPN said that they believed it helped their unity and teamwork. I thought it was a very interesting way to get a team to work together.
